and for service to the Canadian pulp and paper industry are presented at PaperWeek Canada.
John S. Bates Memorial Gold Medal

Richard Berry, Vice-President, Technology and CTO, CelluForce will be presented the John S. Bates Memorial Gold Medal, PAPTAC's highest individual honour, awarded to a member of the Association in recognition of their great contribution to the science and technology of the pulp and paper industry. The award presentation to Mr. Berrry will take place on Thurday, February 8th during the Business Luncheon.

Honorary Life Membership

Honorary Life Membership will be conferred to David McDonald for his extraordinary dedication to the Association.

PAPTAC Fellowship

The title of PAPTAC Fellow will be conferred to Joe R. H. Zhao in recognition of his long-term and significant contribution to the Association and the pulp and paper industry.

Howard Rapson Memorial Award

The Howard Rapson Memorial Award for best chemical pulp bleaching paper will be presented to Rick Wasson, Lake Utopia Paper - JD Irving, Limited for “Summary of Best Training Practices For Generator Safety Systems”.

Jasper Mardon Award

The Jasper Mardon Award for Best Papermaking paper will be presented to Javad Saberian, FPInnovations for « Améliorer l’efficacité de la machine à papier en réduisant les variabilités au bout humide ».

Douglas Jones Environmental Award

The Douglas Jones Environmental Award is conferred for the best paper in the field of environment improvement presented at a PAPTAC meeting.
The winners are Talat Mahmood and Allan Elliott, FPInnovations, for their paper, “Novel Approach to Recover Products from Ash” presented at the 2017 PAPTAC Annual Meeting.
